Finalize your benefits elections for new hires

Congratulations on the new job! If you selected your benefits, you may be wondering how you can get started using them as soon as possible.

When you start a new job, you have a set amount of time when you can select your benefits. This is called an enrollment period. Once you submit your benefit elections, League either:

  • Scenario one: Waits until the end of the enrollment period before we send your elections to your insurance carrier. This gives you time to make changes if you need to.

  • Scenario two: Automatically sends your elections to your insurance carrier. This means you can’t make changes to your elections after you submit.

Your employer decides whether we automatically send your elections to your carrier or give you time to make changes. This article will explain both scenarios to help you understand how to finalize your benefit elections.

Scenario one

In this scenario, if you submit your benefit elections before your enrollment period ends, they won’t be processed right away (which explains why you can’t view your League Wallet and haven’t received physical ID cards yet). We wait until the enrollment period ends to submit your elections.

However, there’s a way you can speed up this process. If you submitted your benefits before the end of the enrollment period and know you won’t need to make changes, you can finalize your elections. This lets us know to process your benefits right away.

To finalize your benefit elections:

1. Sign in to your League account.

2. Click the “Wallet” tab.

If your benefit elections haven’t been finalized yet, your Wallet will look like this:

3. Click “Finalize Plan Selections”.

4. Read the note with important information about what happens when you finalize your elections.

5. Select “I understand I won’t be able to change my selections” and click “Submit”.

You’ll now be able to view your League Wallet, and we’ll send your benefit elections to your insurance carrier for processing.

There are some important things to know after you finalize your elections:

  • If you become eligible for benefits before they're processed, your coverage is backdated to your benefits eligibility date.

  • If your carrier(s) provides physical ID cards, you’ll receive them 7-14 business days after you finalize your elections (mailed to the home address that League has on file).

  • If you need to access care after your benefits eligibility date but before you receive physical ID cards, read this article for suggestions.

Scenario two

In this scenario, we automatically finalize your benefit elections when you submit them. This means they are automatically sent to your insurance carrier, so you can’t make changes to your elections.

When you’re making your benefit elections, we let you know at the end of the enrollment experience on the Coverage Summary page that your elections will be final:

Once you click “Submit”, your benefit elections are finalized. This doesn’t mean your benefits are active right away, this just means they’ll be processed by your carrier soon.
